Amid the ongoing HMPV virus scare, airline and hotel stocks experienced a significant decline of nearly 5% on Monday following the government’s announcement of two confirmed virus cases in India.
Shares of airline companies saw sharp losses, with InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of Indigo, dropping 4.42% to close at ₹4,262.1, and SpiceJet falling 4.88% to ₹53.02.
Hotel stocks were also hit hard. TAJGVK Hotels & Resorts Limited, a joint venture between Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and the GVK Group, plunged 5.26% to ₹421.85, while shares of Indian Hotels Company Limited, the Tata-backed operator of the Taj Group of Hotels, declined 3.1% to ₹844.90.
