Ford is set to repurpose its dormant factory near Chennai to manufacture and export engines and related components, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The official announcement is expected in the second quarter of this year. Notably, vehicle manufacturing is not included in Ford’s India strategy.
“Ford will utilize the Chennai plant for engine production, focusing on exports as part of its global strategy,” a source revealed.
