In response to preliminary findings from the investigation into last month’s Air India aircraft crash, major airlines worldwide have initiated inspections of the locking mechanism in the fuel control switches of their Boeing 787 fleets.
Etihad Airways has reportedly issued engineering work instructions directing its maintenance teams to examine the fuel switch locking systems on all B787 aircraft. Sources familiar with the matter have confirmed that Singapore Airlines has also begun a similar inspection process.
These precautionary checks come amid growing concerns raised by the early stages of the crash investigation, with safety at the forefront of airline operations globally.
