Alphabet Inc. has begun discussions with local contract manufacturers, Dixon Technologies and Foxconn, to move part of the global production of Google Pixel smartphones from Vietnam to India, particularly for devices destined for the US market. Industry sources confirmed that the initial round of talks took place about two weeks ago.
This strategic move comes as part of Alphabet’s broader efforts to mitigate supply chain risks, especially with rising tariff threats from the US on products manufactured in Vietnam, the primary production hub for the Pixel. The shift aims to reduce dependence on Vietnam and diversify sourcing for Google’s flagship smartphones.
