In a significant move to enhance India’s energy security, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, announced that Indian public sector oil companies have signed their first-ever one-year agreement to import liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the United States. The minister described this milestone in a social media post on Monday, calling it a “historic first” for India’s LPG market. The deal involves importing approximately 2.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LPG from the US Gulf Coast, which is expected to meet about 10% of India’s total LPG requirements, marking a new chapter in India-US energy cooperation.
