India Unveils First Medium Voltage SST Technology for Superfast EV Charging

Lotus Wireless Technologies (LWT) India, in partnership with the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), has introduced India’s first commercial-scale Medium Voltage Solid State Transformer (SST) technology. This innovation is designed to enable applications such as megawatt-scale, medium-voltage superfast chargers for electric vehicles (EVs), reducing charging times from hours to mere minutes.

Technology Demonstration and Inauguration

LWT recently showcased the SST technology at its Autonagar, Aganampudi plant. The Power Electronics (PE) lab was inaugurated by Dr. Friederich Kupzog, Head of Energy at AIT, Vienna. Highlighting the importance of this achievement, Dr. Kupzog remarked, “This collaboration demonstrates the powerful synergy between India’s expertise in detailed engineering and mass manufacturing and Austria’s commitment to innovation.”
