Manufacturing iPhones in the US Could Raise Costs to $3,000, Warn Industry Leaders

Industry experts have raised concerns over US President Donald Trump’s recent statement urging Apple to limit its expansion in India. In response, several leaders highlighted the potential financial impact of shifting iPhone manufacturing from India to the United States.

According to analysts, producing an iPhone domestically in the US could drive the cost up to approximately USD 3,000 per unit — nearly three times the current production cost of USD 1,000 when manufactured in India.

These comments follow President Trump’s remarks on Thursday, where he revealed a conversation with Apple CEO Tim Cook, during which he suggested curbing Apple’s growth initiatives in India. Industry insiders argue that such a shift would severely impact Apple’s supply chain efficiency and global competitiveness, making the iPhone unaffordable for many consumers.
