For us gamers, one of the most anticipated dates of the first half of 2026 was perhaps June 2nd, as Sony announced its State of Play – just a couple weeks ago. Another important reason to look forward to this day, was that we were supposed to get a full fledged reveal of Marvel’s Wolverine, and guess what? hell yeah – Sony did ‘bloody’ deliver (quite literally), along with yet again confirming its September 15, 2026 release date.
Reminding all of us that Wolverine ain’t a family friendly superhero, Insomniac Games, the literal ‘Marvel Hub’ for Sony, unleashed upon us a 7+ minutes extended trailer. This footage consisted of a small segment from the game, along with several cut scenes, and a detailed view of the gameplay mechanics. But one thing’s for sure – this game will be unapologetically violent, but of course this is a super hero game after all, thus – Insomniac strategically has added a ‘Gore Toggle’ accessibility feature.
PS5 Marvel’s Wolverine – Another Superhero Slop?
Me being an avid onliner (if that’s even a word), before I complete watching a full video, the less attention span mind of mine would have pushed me towards scrolling through the comments section. And a lot of fans are not really happy with the product being served by Insomniac Games, with few visible glitches and sloppy moments. I wish for the studio to fine tune all of this before the release, while really looking forward to the game, and maybe I’ll even end up pre-ordering it to get the added benefits and early unlocks. Or to add to the hype take part in the midnight launch of this game 😀
How much will it cost in India?
The game will be out in two editions: Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The Standard Edition of Marvel’s Wolverine is priced Rs 4,999, whereas the Digital Edition is priced at Rs 5,599, which obviously comes with add-ons such as five exclusive suits and claws plus three technique points, early unlock of classic brown suit and reflective claws and four ps avatars plus one technique points.
Also, many gamers especially in the USA were looking forward to the collector’s edition, but sadly – Sony announced that nothing is planned as of yet, nor they gave an update on PS5 Panels or even Marvel’s Wolverine limited edition controllers.
We wanted to clear up some questions regarding physical editions. At this time, we do not have plans for a Marvel’s Wolverine Collector’s Edition. We’re focused on delivering the best game possible on September 15! 🐾 #WolverinePS5 #MarvelsWolverine

X-Men in the making
As already confirmed by Insomniac Games, the game will be based in the Earth-1048 universe. Yes you heard it right, maybe one day Logan and Peter Parker might cross paths 🤞

The game will revolve around our protagonist Logan, who is pretty much done being Wolverine, but is now forced to rejoin the Mutant Task Force – Team X. Logan, with a few of his fellow mutant buddies such as Jean Grey, will be facing up against Bolivar Trask and his cybernetic-human army called the Reavers, with what looks like a rescue mission of several young mutants. And like every other game consisting of boss fights, Marvel’s Wolverine has confirmed a few of its villains, namely – Mystique, Logan’s very own brother – Sabretooth, Omega Red and Trask’s mutant ending robots – the Sentinels. We are not quite sure about whose side Mystique is taking in this game, but considering her past in the comics, let’s assume she is more of a villain.
Importantly, in this globehopping adventure, Logan will not just be sticking to one location, but will venture deep into locations like Canada, Japan, and the Marvel island nation of Madripoor.
Togglable Gore Fest!

The combat mechanics almost resembles – pull, throw, toss mechanics of Insomniac’s Spiderman games, but this game is clearly linear, and will not be an Open World Game. But where Insomniac decided to hold back in its previous titles, they decided to completely let go of – in Marvel’s Wolverine with relentless combat, dismemberment, and the healing factor (famously associated with Wolverine) mechanics being tied to a Rage Meter. P.S. in the extended gameplay trailer – many fans noted that during this healing process, the suit too ‘healed’ which was disliked by many.
The new trailer also showed off a tag team fight of Logan and Jean Grey, and the transitions and animations during this fight were super smooth, making us crave for more such team fights in the game with other mutants. In the end of the feature, Logan was seen fighting what looked like an early version of Deadpool, considering how Marvel is in rage since MCU took over world cinema, any sightings of such big characters will just give more reasons for even non-fans to shell-out 70 odd dollars on this IP.
What to look forward to?
Since the 2023 ransomware hack which leaked a lot of stuff from Insomniac games including personal details of many developers, news of the new Venom Game, information that spider-man 3 will be released in two parts, and a lot more. Sony has been very hush-hush on the marketing plan, and looks like the extended trailer which we got a couple of hours ago would be the max we can expect in the form of new footage.
The stage is set for Marvel’s Wolverine to dominate the 2026 gaming landscape. With more news and studio updates on the horizon, stay tuned to our feed as we bring you the latest breakdowns and exclusive reveals from the Insomniac universe.
