The IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings has made history by setting a new benchmark in television viewership for a cricket match in India. According to the latest data from the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), a staggering 169 million viewers across the country tuned in to watch the high-stakes showdown.
This figure, representing the All India 2+ age group, surpasses the previous record of 166 million viewers set during the India vs Pakistan clash in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Held on June 3, the electrifying final marked a landmark moment for RCB as they secured their first-ever IPL title after 18 seasons. Despite being scheduled on a weekday, the match achieved an impressive Television Rating (TVR) of 11 — the third-highest in IPL history.
TVR is a metric that combines the number of people reached and the time they spent watching, indicating exceptionally high viewer engagement during the game.
