In a significant shift in India’s two-wheeler market, TVS Motor Company has overtaken Hero MotoCorp for the first time ever, pushing the long-standing market leader to third place. Monthly sales data from two-wheeler manufacturers reveal that TVS surged past Hero in February 2025, marking a dramatic reshuffling in the industry hierarchy.
TVS Motor recorded total sales of 403,976 units in February, reflecting a 9.6% year-on-year growth. In contrast, Hero MotoCorp, which was also unseated from the top position by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, saw a 17.2% decline in sales, dropping to 388,068 units.
This milestone marks the first time TVS has outsold Hero MotoCorp in monthly sales, even without achieving record-breaking volumes for its popular Ntorq scooters and Apache motorcycles. The figures include both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric two-wheeler sales in domestic and export markets.
