Leading Indian fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies have suspended their operations in Nepal following rising civil unrest and violent youth-led protests across the country. Several ongoing and upcoming projects have also been put on hold due to the unstable situation.
Britannia Industries, a prominent biscuit and bakery products manufacturer, has indefinitely shut down all manufacturing activities at its Simara plant in Nepal’s Bara district. “The safety of our people is of utmost importance, and we have temporarily halted all our operations to ensure the same,” a spokesperson for the Bengaluru-based company stated.
