Following the tragic deaths of 20 children in Madhya Pradesh linked to contaminated cough syrup, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has initiated a special inspection drive targeting liquid oral medicines. The FDA has instructed all joint commissioners and drug inspectors to promptly provide lists of all pharmaceutical manufacturers within their areas of oversight. In addition, officials have been directed to collect samples of liquid formulations from government and semi-government hospitals, private wholesalers, and retail outlets to ensure product safety and prevent another health crisis.
