Opeth to Return to India After 7 Years

BENGALURU: The wait is finally over for Indian metalheads, where the platform is set for Opeth to Return to India After 7 Years. After months of speculation and a “mysterious” ticket link leak that sent social media into a frenzy, Opeth has officially announced their return to Indian shores. The band, led by the iconic Mikael Åkerfeldt, will perform in Mumbai on October 3, 2026, followed by a massive show at the Bighorn Arena in Bengaluru on October 4, 2026.

Following in the footsteps of long-time collaborator and close friend Steven Wilson, who made a landmark return to India last November after a seven-year hiatus, Opeth is finally ending their own Indian drought. This tour marks the band’s first appearance in the country since NH7 Weekender Pune in 2019. For Bengaluru fans, the stakes are even higher, considering that the band’s first time in the city was back in 2012 at the Summerstorm Festival.

The Last Will and Testament Tour

The 2026 India leg is part of the promotional tour for Opeth’s 14th studio album, The Last Will and Testament. Fans are particularly excited as the new record marks a return to the band’s legendary “progressive death metal” roots, featuring the iconic growls that defined their earlier masterpieces like Blackwater Park and Ghost Reveries.

Event Details & Venue

  • Mumbai: October 3, 2026 (Venue TBA)
  • Bengaluru: October 4, 2026, at Bighorn Arena
  • Organizer: Presented by Bighorn and produced by SkillBox.

How to Buy Tickets

Tickets for the Opeth India Tour 2026 went live today, March 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM IST. Given the band’s cult following in India and the seven-year gap since their last visit, tickets are expected to sell out rapidly.

Why This is Trending

Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt has often cited India as one of his favorite places to perform. In a recent interview, he mentioned, “We show up once every five years… actually, I am the one who’s gonna push for it next year!” With the recent success of international acts like Dream Theater and Marty Friedman in India, the metal scene in the country is witnessing a resurgence. The addition of Opeth to the 2026 calendar alongside the upcoming Bangalore Open Air makes this a landmark year for live music in India.
