Consumer demand across India climbed to its highest level in five years during the initial phase of the festive season, boosting optimism among manufacturers spanning home appliances, automobiles, apparel, and footwear sectors. This surge in sales, spanning the Onam, Rakshabandhan, and Ganesh Chaturthi period, came even as prices rose in several categories, signaling strong underlying consumer confidence.
Industry executives are optimistic that this positive momentum will carry through to the Navratri-Diwali period, which marks the country’s peak consumption season. Executives note that the current wave of demand growth is spread widely across multiple categories, rather than being concentrated in just a few. Online platforms, including quick commerce and food delivery services, also registered robust growth during this period.
