BIG FM has applied to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) for permission to launch six more news channels. The move steps up its expansion into news broadcasting, following its acquisition of Sapphire Media’s existing news business, which includes India Daily 24×7.
The proposed channels are part of the company’s plan to build a national news network under the BIG News Network banner. The network will combine traditional broadcasting with digital platforms to reach audiences across regions and languages.
The new channels will focus on timely and accurate reporting, hyperlocal and vernacular news, regional perspectives, and short-form content made for digital audiences. With a digital-first approach, the company aims to strengthen its presence in regional markets while building a wider news network.
