Nike has unveiled its first running shoe designed specifically for India, priced at Rs 3,795. The move comes as the US sportswear giant looks to tap the country’s fast-growing running community while dealing with falling sales in key markets such as China.
Called Vegam Run, the shoe will be available on Flipkart and at select retail outlets from November 1, Nike said on Wednesday. The company developed it in about five months, working with Indian runners to understand their needs across running, training and everyday movement.
According to Nike, the shoe combines cushioning, breathability and durability, and is designed for both daily runs and regular everyday wear. It features an engineered mesh upper, full-length foam cushioning and a textured rubber outsole. The company described Vegam Run as a more affordable entry point into Nike Running.
