Samsung, the renowned Korean electronics giant, has officially begun manufacturing laptops in India at its Greater Noida factory, marking a significant expansion of its local production capabilities. Previously, the Greater Noida plant was dedicated to producing feature phones, smartphones, tablets, and wearables.
Sources familiar with the development confirmed that Samsung’s portfolio now includes laptops and hinted at plans to manufacture additional devices in the country in the future. This bold move is part of Samsung’s commitment to strengthen its manufacturing presence in India, leveraging local talent and innovation.
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, after meeting key Samsung executives, commended the company’s growing investments in advanced technology manufacturing in Bharat. Established in 1996, Samsung’s Greater Noida facility has long been a cornerstone of India’s electronics industry, and with laptops now joining its production lineup, Samsung is set to further enhance its leadership in the tech sector.
With India now home to Samsung’s second-largest global mobile phone manufacturing unit, the shift toward laptop production is seen as a strategic step to broaden its market reach and deepen its ‘Make in India’ roots.
