Top 10 Steven Wilson & Porcupine Tree Songs for Indian Fans

You might be wondering how you ended up on a web post about top suggested steven wilson and porcupine tree songs. Let me tell you something – you my friend aren’t lost, me and you are just wanderers with perhaps the right music taste, looking for like minded folks expressing themselves on the internet. Before I get down to suggesting Top 10 Steven Wilson & Porcupine Tree Songs for Indian Fans, let me tell you something about my rock n roll journey 🤘.

Even though I did my schooling in a proper Jesuit convent, my early exposure to western music was bare minimum and limited to some pop and mainly rap. Also, to note – back in the 90s access to portable audio players was scarce, and having been brought up in a proper middle class household, it was only much later – we got actual access.

So the time passed, just as Steven Wilson wrote about the obvious in a very clever way in one of his most memorable songs for Porcupine Tree – Time Flies.

“But after a while

You realize time flies

And the best thing that you can do

Is take whatever comes to you

′Cause time flies”

We reached our late teens early into our high schools, by now dial up internet was a thing and many of us had vintage-ass pc setups at home to boast about, but still I wasn’t that lucky. And ya apple ipods were also a big rage, yet only a privileged few could own them. One of my childhood friends was sweet enough to let me borrow it from him for temporary use of course, and this ipod had almost no songs. I asked one of my other close friends to boot up a few songs onto the ipod. Least did I expect the genre or should I say – lifestyle I was about to get exposed to.

Welcome to the Jungle, we got fun and games

The first ever song he played to us on this newly booted up playlist was a song called Forest, by System of a Down. Weww! This was some revelation for me personally, with music exploding into my ears, something unique, something chaotic, something I got hooked to.

Rock, metal and then eventual progress into prog rock was how I ended up with Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson.

Btw please note the heading of this segment is a line taken from a song called Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n Roses. The reason for me to even bring this up is the fact Guns N’ Roses Return to Bengaluru in November 2026. Exactly a year after Steven Wilson descended upon Bengaluru in 2025.

Top 10 Steven Wilson & Porcupine Tree Songs for Indian Fans

That was maybe 20 years ago, and this is today, but my journey of exploring new bands and artists still is at its peak. But all in all I can proudly state that – Porcupine Tree was the most played band/artist from my last year’s Spotify Wrapped. Which surely gives the list I’m about to spill below some credibility I hope 🤞.

Top 10 Porcupine Tree songs for Indian Fans

As Steven Wilson released music through Porcupine Tree prior to his solo project, and co-incidentally on the year I was born in 1992 with an album called – On the Sunday of Life, let’s focus on the top PT songs first. Even though I pretty much like everything Steven Wilson has produced so far, I’m just listing out my personal favourites.

  1. Open Car
  2. Hate Song
  3. Anesthetize
  4. Arriving somewhere but not here
  5. Dislocated Day
  6. Way Out of Here
  7. So Called Friend
  8. Fear of a Blank Planet
  9. My Ashes
  10.  Dark Matter

The above list mostly comprises heavy distortion filled riffs, with My Ashes and Dark Matter being exceptions, which are some melancholic numbers with deep lyrics.

After almost two decades of making incredible songs, Porcupine Tree was almost about to go on an indefinite hiatus in 2010, and also due to Steven Wilson’s desire to start something new, fresh and on his own, the solo project was started. Mainly to explore genres beyond prog rock, Insurgentes his debut full-length solo album took deep influences from noise and drone-oriented music, and since then – he has successfully produced and composed eight albums to add to his impressive roster.

So here goes my list of Top 10 Steven Wilson songs:

  1. Harmony Korine
  2. Index
  3. Ancestral
  4. Routine
  5. Happy Returns
  6. Perfect Life
  7. Home Invasion
  8. King Ghost
  9. Raven that Refused to Sing
  10.  Raider II
